FAQ
What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s when a group of people get together at the beginning of the farming season to pledge to support a farm for the entire season. It helps to stabilize and support small farmers who often are at the mercy of both weather and market conditions.
What flowers will we receive?
Our flowers will differ from week to week! We won’t announce it until the day of distribution in case unseasonal weather like frost or winds causes a pivot in plans. Some flowers to expect for the season include peonies, dahlias, lithianthus, German irises, sunflowers, and much more
Why is it better to pick up my flowers earlier in the day?
As all of our distribution locations will be outside, the flowers will be exposed to weather conditions of the day. Get them into your house faster, the flowers will be happy to have a fresh drink of water with you.
What happens if I miss my pick up time one week?
If you can anticipate it, it’s great to have a friend or family member pick up for you during pick up times. Even better, join the Flower CSA with a friend and take turns picking up flowers for each other. Because flowers are so perishable, it is not possible to guarantee availability after designated pick up hours. Any unclaimed flowers will be donated.
I am planning a vacation in 2024. Can I pause my subscription for a few weeks?
Yes! If you can anticipate how many weeks you will be away for the flowering season before April 22 and let us know by emailing your weeks away at queensperennial@gmail.com at least two weeks ahead of time, we can accommodate your away schedule. You can also opt to get two bouquets another week, but we still need at minimum 2 weeks notice for the weeks you are away.
Are flowers toxic to my cats and dogs?
Most flowers are toxic to pets! We have cats and dogs in our own households and they are not interested in flowers and just ignore them which is fine, but if your pet likes to eat flowers, please know that they are mostly toxic. The large exception is in the celosia flower family, which we will also see in our Flower CSA, but like all the flowers, we won’t know exactly which weeks we will be receiving them.
What if I cancel mid season?
There is a $25 cancellation fee.
